FolderClone takes the cloning concept and applies it to the software world. This Salty Brine Software-developed tool makes an exact copy of the folder you specify. Thus, you can ensure that the data stored in a specific location is constantly backed up to another.

FolderClone works with 32 and 64-bit editions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. To get the application up and running, you will have to go through a standard setup procedure: download an executable (a 5.5MB one), run it, follow the onscreen instructions presented to you by a setup wizard.

Speaking about a wizard, one will help you create FolderClone tasks. All the tasks will be presented as a list on the main panel of the interface. Above this panel there are nice big buttons assigned for various functions the application can perform: create a new task, delete an existing task, manually run a task, access a task’s properties, compare folders, view logs, access the Help menu.

As mentioned above, a wizard will help you set up tasks and thus take advantage of the functionality offered by FolderClone. Said wizard will guide you through the following seven steps:
- Enter a task name and description.
- Pick the source folder. This is the folder that will be copied by the application.
- Pick the target folder. The data from the source folder will be copied to this folder.
- Choose which files you want to copy: all of them, only the files you manually select, or specific file types.
- Choose if you want the task to be run manually or automatically, based on a schedule.
- Preview the task or run it right now.

If you set the task to be run on a schedule, FolderClone will sit in the system tray and will quietly do as instructed. It will back up the info from the source folder to the destination you choose.

Please note that FolderClone is only free to try. You can use the application for free for an evaluation period of 30 days.
There are two FolderClone editions to choose from: FolderClone Standard and FolderClone Professional.

FolderClone is a very nice choice if you want to make sure that data from a specific folder is backed up to a location of your choice.

Pros

Little time and effort will go into getting FolderClone up and running. The same goes for creating new tasks; a folder will quickly guide you through the process. Tasks can be run manually or automatically. There’s nothing complicated about the interface. There are two editions to choose from: Standard and Professional.

Cons

30-day trial; nag screen.
